Introduction/Overview Section
Exodea Europe Consulting was engaged by the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) to undertake an Area Profile and Needs Assessment for the entire ETB area. KWETB is the largest education provider in counties Kildare and Wicklow, offering a comprehensive range of education and training services for lifelong learning. The purpose of this project was to generate key socio-economic and demographic information to facilitate the provision of suitable services for young people within the ETB service area.

Exodea Europe Consulting utilized its in-house GIS service to compile and present key data. The project involved the following key tasks:
Service Area Profile: Compiling a comprehensive profile of the KWETB service area, integrating both quantitative and qualitative data.
Services Audit: Carrying out an audit of existing education and youth services available to the KWETB target population.
Needs Analysis: Analyzing needs in various areas, including early education, primary, secondary, and tertiary education, as well as special education services. The analysis was conducted within a broader framework that considered associated needs and service gaps, such as mental health services, primary care services (speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, autistic spectrum disorder services), and disability and early intervention services.
Outcomes/Results Section
Comprehensive Needs Assessment The project resulted in a detailed Area Profile and Needs Assessment that provided KWETB with a clear understanding of the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of its target population.
Identification of Service Gaps The audit and needs analysis successfully identified key service gaps and areas where provision could be improved, allowing KWETB to strategically plan for the future.
Informed Service Provision By providing a robust evidence base, the project enabled KWETB to make informed decisions regarding the provision of suitable and effective services for young people throughout their service area.
